Treatment Modalities

  • Behavioral therapy that centers mindfulness, values-aligned committed actions, and radical acceptance of reality in order to address unhelpful coping mechanisms & behavior patterns, and, ultimately, reduce suffering.

  • Behavioral therapy that centers identifying and modifying unhelpful thoughts through reframing and challenging these thoughts. CBT also utilizes experiential techniques such as roleplaying and behavioral activation to reduce anxious and depressive symptoms.

  • A body-based therapeutic technique designed originally for veterans with PTSD, EMDR has been found to be useful with a variety of mental health concerns. EMDR harnesses the brain and body’s capacity to heal itself in order to desensitize painful memories and integrate more helpful beliefs.

  • A therapeutic technique designed to help with those engaging in avoidance of certain situations, or difficulty refraining from engaging in certain behaviors. ERP involves learning new coping skills, gradual exposures to aversive stimuli or situations, and incorporating a “reward” or relaxation after each exposure.

  • Intentional focusing of your attention on the present moment, without judgment, and bringing your mind back to focusing on the present in a kind, gentle, nonjudgmental way when it inevitably wanders. Mindfulness is a skill that helps us gain awareness of our thoughts, emotions, and needs in the moment, as well as to bring our mind back from unhelpful distractions, including unhelpful thoughts.

  • An evidence-based treatment for couples, backed by decades of research. The Gottman Method focuses on improving communication, intimacy, respect, and affection.
